R. Austin Marks CPA CFF CFE CFD CFFA Manager
Austin Marks is a Manager with Cendrowski Corporate Advisors. He is a Certified Public Accountant with Certified in Financial Forensics credentials, a Certified Fraud Deterrence Analyst, a Certified Forensic Financial Analyst, and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
Austin has diverse work experience in many areas of accounting and finance. His engagements have encompassed a wide variety of industries including the manufacturing, health care, private equity, nonprofit, education, real estate, oil, mortgage, temporary staffing, telecommunications, and banking industries.
Austin has worked extensively providing litigation support for partnership, divorce, malpractice, and bankruptcy proceedings. In this capacity he has performed damages calculations, valuation services, background investigations, lost profit analyses, discovery assistance, and financial analyses. He has also managed a court-ordered receivership.
Austin has performed numerous comprehensive risk assessment engagements with emphases on internal control evaluation, business process review, and recommendations for improvement. He has also assisted acquisition companies in due diligence engagements.
Austin has performed forensic examinations and fraud investigations at many organizations, including those with multi-million dollar misstatements. He has managed and carried out several fraud deterrence engagements.
Austin also has been the lead examiner in many State of Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation mortgage examinations. As an examiner he has helped uncover several mortgage fraud schemes and ensured compliance amongst both mortgage brokers and lenders. Furthermore, Austin has executed multiple field examinations for financial institutions including loan asset and borrowing base verifications.
Austin served as a contributing author for the Private Equity: History, Governance, and Operations (Wiley, 2008). Austin also assisted in developing the Certified Fraud Deterrence Analyst (CFD) training materials for the International Association of Consultants, Valuators and Analysts (IACVA). Additionally, Austin is an editor for the “The Fraud Files”, a bimonthly newsletter appearing in the Value Examiner, a National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) publication. He has also authored numerous articles and delivered continuing education seminars for various professional service organizations.
Austin graduated with honors from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University with a B.A. in accounting. He is also a member of the AICPA, MACPA, ACFE, IACVA, and NACVA.
